"If you have any opportunity
to attend -- you will be touched in a way in which words cannot describe." Pamela R., MD

This
is a one-woman show written and conceived by award winning actress and honored AIDS activist, Sheryl Lee Ralph. A complex and thought provoking show, Sometimes I Cry was inspired by the real life stories of women who are infected and affected by HIV and AIDS. Sometimes I Cry creatively exams the female struggle when coping with HIV and AIDS, and offers an engaging window into the unique difficulties women face. The chronicles of these women from diverse backgrounds and cultures are experienced as writerperformer Sheryl Lee Ralph explores through word, movement and song just how each woman copes with her new HIV/AIDS reality. Ms. Ralph becomes each character with every move and simple gesture, breathing life into them and their stories

"It's a brilliant piece of work. I cried. Sheryl Lee has managed to highlight all the
major groups of people who are at risk these days. Bravo!" Gary R. C. M.D., F.A.C.P.

The Diva Foundation is a national not-for-profit 501(c)(3) charitable
organization founded by Sheryl Lee Ralph, in 1990, as a memorial to
the many friends she has lost to HIV and AIDS. The organization’s goal
is to generate resources and coordinate activities to create
awareness about HIV and AIDS, utilizing music, education, and
entertainment as vehicles to raise HIV/AIDS consciousness.

"It's a brilliant piece of work. I cried."
Our objectives include:

• Educate women, especially women of color about HIV and AIDS
• Give a voice to the social and health issues connected to HIV and AIDS including physical abuse, mental health and family
• Define and prioritize a course of action to help create a cultural shift where women are able to better protect themselves against HIV/ AIDS and STD’s
• Seek treatment for families including the children infected and affected by HIV/ AIDS VISION
Immediately following each performance of Sometimes I Cry, attendees are given an opportunity to share their thoughts and ideas through a question and answer (Q & A) session. Through open dialogue, we hope to achieve the following:
• Create a collaborative forum about women affected by HIV/AIDS, Spousal Abuse, Sexual and Health Rights
• Provide an environment for a diverse group of individuals to share their thoughts and experiences regarding HIV and AIDS
• Identify novel therapeutic approaches and gaps in research that might shape the future of HIV and AIDS

“Your spirit gives truth to those unheard voices!”
