Appointed by department director (SEP 00 – APR 03) to increase department’s state and federal grant programs’ service-base—targeting multi-ethnic populations with area agencies and organizations, consult on cultural demographic factors for grant writing, develop and monitor department’s detailed documentation and database system for grant audit requirements, and manage implementation and documentation of programs.

 

Developed, coordinated and implemented substance abuse education for high-risk youth groups. Redesigned, coordinated and co-facilitated department’s family drug education program county’s Juvenile Probation “Drug Offenders Class.” Incorporated HIV related issues for both programs.

 

Structured and implemented truancy program parenting skills curriculum component for court-ordered families.  --coordinated class schedules and certificate disbursement, and reported attendance to Judges and Juvenile Probation. 

 

Developed, coordinated and implemented parenting/family skills program for incarcerated women in local county jail.

 

Developed, coordinated and co-implemented prevention presentations for schools and community organizations on substance abuse, HIV-AIDS and age—related life skill.

 

Designed layouts and coordinated publications of Red Ribbon Week (2001, 2002 & 2003) newspaper inserts with the Conroe Courier.

 

Served on community coalition committees (APR – NOV 03) to develop missions and functioning frameworks to encourage youth involvement in creating substance use- and tobacco-free and safe lifestyles in their community.

Reorganized Camp Watsitumi’s structure to create a suitable decision-making environment, most notably autonomy to satellite offices to adopt experiential learning activities enhancing counseling effects with youth. This increased therapeutic efficacy to yielding positive experiences and mental health growth to participants.

Directed annual preparation, coordination (January – May) and operation (June) with agency staff liaisons, counselors, Conroe ISD Challenge Course staff, teen and adult volunteers, daily decision-making and handing emergency situations.

Alvin Independent School District— Alvin Texas.  High school campus (96-97, 97-98, 98-99) and Alternative Learning Center (98-99).

 

Counseling gang and at-risk youth in punitive and alternative-learning program environments. Recruited by campus detention program director as a consultant for boot camp drill staff and faculty and program coordinator. Guidance and support produced effective approaches for long-term program success—eliminating environment's potential physical and verbal abuse.

 

Developed and coordinated ropes-course workshop as part of therapeutic experience to illustrate—in experiential form—concept of team building and trust among gang youth and for boot camp participants.

 

Developed rapport with school district administrators, high school assistant principals and teachers and parents. Frequently assisted Student Assistant Program staff to defuse confrontations and volatile situations most often among minority students.

 

Significantly increased recruitment of Hispanic, Asian and Black youth to program caseload, and reduced gang activity on campus. Served on district's “Safe & Drug Free Schools” program advisory board and attended Houston Police Department's Gang Task Force meetings.

Provided Individual and couple counseling to adults that included HIV, AIDS and/or gay issues. Co-facilitated substance abuse group with program director. Graduate practicum was a two-semester commitment that included summer months.

Clinical in-patient facility. Individual counseling to eight-year-old and two teens, and co-facilitated mixed teen substance abuse group.  One semester commitment towards graduate practicum work experience.

Primary contact for Contracts department in handling and mediating contract related issues, inquiries, and solicitations with non-company representatives. Re-designed bid and spreadsheet formats, and contract documentation and database entry forms. Produced bid distributions, spreadsheet analysis, volume reports, and contract award & amendment communications. Maintained expired documents and product resource files.

    Senior Equipment Buyer, 87- 90

Oversee two co-workers on executing timely preparation and disbursement of capital equipment lists, requisitions, purchase orders, project budgets; enforce purchasing policies and procedures.  Handled, resolved field/vendor purchase order related issues.

  

     Equipment Contracts Administrator, 84 - 87

Supported four equipment planners, and appointed by direct supervisor to manage and oversee timely preparation and disbursement of capital purchase orders. Coordinated two single-day surgery projects. Interacted with national account representatives and outside planning firms to obtain necessary documentation and approvals for purchasing. Handled and resolved field/vendor purchasing issues, and maintenance of project purchase order files, logs, and budgets.

Planned and conducted special and daily activities for the United States Air Force Youth Recreation Center. Also provided support for clerical and financial transaction.

Temporary Position.  Provided clerical assistance to teaching staff. Tutored two sixth-grade students in achieving appropriate reading levels.
